Dustin Smith is one of our Certified Master Technicians through the MasterTech program. He Has worked with us here at Bulldog Kia for almost 6 years and works on our Certified Pre-Owned vehicles as they come through our Service Department. We interviewed him and asked him about the value that comes with the CPO program and this is what he had to say…

Bulldog Kia: What is significant about being a Certified Master Technician through the MasterTech program at Bulldog Kia?

Dustin: I had to go through Kia tech school with over 20 instructor led classes. There are 3 years experience needed and all of the classes need to be completed to be certified.

Bulldog Kia: What is the next step for you now that you are MasterTech Certified?

Dustin: I will become a Master Elite in February. This is the next level up and requires 5 years of experience. Master Elite is the highest tier for Kia technicians.

Bulldog Kia: What are some benefits of buying a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle over a non-CPO vehicle?

Dustin: There are a ton of advantages. One is the warranty. You still get Kia’s 10 year/100,000 mile warranty if your vehicle is certified. You get what is remaining on the warranty at the time you purchase the vehicle. For free. This comes standard on all CPOs. Another advantage is the vehicles are usually in good condition on inside and outside because many of them were leases or up-kept well by their owners. There is an additional inspection that goes into certifying a pre-owned vehicle on top of the inspection we already do here at Bulldog Kia.

Bulldog Kia: That is great information! Anything else that you can think of?

Dustin: Yeah, CPOs use all OEM parts which means the vehicles have to have all manufacturer standard parts and equipment. There aren’t random parts used on these vehicles. A Kia CPO is a true Kia in and out. They also have lower miles because all CPOs have under 60,000 mile and are 5 years or newer in order to get certified. They all have only one previous owner and are considered to be the best of the best in terms of used vehicles.

Bulldog Kia: Thank you, that is great information. Would it be safe to say that you believe anyone looking for a used vehicle should specifically buy a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Bulldog Kia?

Dustin: Yes, absolutely! And then they should get their vehicle serviced with us as well. When the CPO vehicles are taken care of through our dealership, we are able to ensure they stay within the limits of being CPO for as long as possible; ultimately allowing the customer to have a higher chance of trading it in down the road as a CPO for more money than one without the certification.
